Staff -- TWICE, 6/24/2002

Sprint PCS began offering LG's single-band 1010, which replaces the bulkier LG TP1100, at $129. Both models offer CDMA 1X voice, but not data, technology.

The 2.8-ounce clamshell 1010, at 3.35x1.75x0.83 inches, is smaller than its predecessor but extends talk and standby times to 2.5 hours and six days, respectively. It features user-interchangeable faceplates of different colors (silver, blue or purple), SMS, external caller ID, embedded games, vibrating alert and organizer functions such as scheduler, calendar and 99-entry phone book with five numbers per entry.
