Hitachi Computer Unit Drops PDP Price

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 3/12/2001

BRISBANE, CALIF. -Hitachi America's computer division recently started shipping an HDTV-level plasma display panel (PDP) at a newly reduced $9,995 retail price.

The company said the reduction "represents a significant improvement on the world-class 42-inch Hitachi Plasma Display Panel CMP4120HDU."

Hitachi also enhanced the warranty terms on the product, boosting the limited one-year parts and labor period to two years.

The company said the warranty extension also applies to its complete line of PDPs, including both 42- and 37-inch models.

The CMP4120HDU display has 1,024 x 1,024-pixel native resolution, 700:1 contrast ratio and a 160-degree viewing angle, Hitachi said.
