VOOM Reports Subs Reach 25K

Jericho, N.Y. — HDTV-centric direct broadcast satellite TV provider VOOM, which is run by Rainbow DBS and is part of the Cablevision group of companies, reported it had activated approximately 25,000 customers as of June 30.

The satellite service, which originally launched last October, last reported 8,000 activations at the end of April.

In the second quarter, Rainbow DBS had net revenues of $2.7 million from subscription fees and equipment sales and rental income on satellite TV receivers and equipment.

The service's operating loss for the second quarter was $81.5 million.
