Q-PC, Zapco Team For All-Digital Car Audio System

Staff -- TWICE, 12/4/2000

HUNTSVILLE, ALA. -Car PC supplier Q-PC will begin developing a fully digital audio system with amp/processor supplier, Zapco/Arpa.

Q-PC, here, and Zapco, Modesta, Calif., expect to develop a user interface that will allow Q-PC computers to work seamlessly with Zapco DSP units and amplifiers for better control of DSP settings and other fine tuning, said CEO Derrick Copeland.

"Some of the soundoff competitors are using Zapco amps with the Q-PC, and we found we could provide some control interfaces which would improve how the amp and equalization settings are controlled," said Copeland. "There's some good marketing and sales opportunities we can pursue together."

Q-PC computers are able to provide digital source music, such as MP3, while Zapco will allow a user interface in Windows to control its processor, explained Copeland. "So instead of hardwiring the processor to play a certain way you can change your EQ settings song to song," he said.
