Lenovo Ships Ultra-Portable Laptop

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 3/10/2008

Lenovo started shipping its latest notebook today, the ThinkPad X300.

The ultra-portable X300 has a $2,799 suggested retail and features a 64GB solid-state drive (SSD) and a 7mm-thick DVD burner. The unit itself is made of carbon and glass fiber and weighs 2.9 pounds.

The X300 is designed for WiMAX compatibility, when it becomes available, along with ultrawideband/wireless USB. It has built-in GPS and the entire unit is built around a 13.3-inch LED back-lit display and uses Intel Centrino Pro technology and can handle up to 4GB of memory.

The low-power SSD and LED display give the unit about 10 hours of battery life, the company said.
