U.S. VoIP Revenue To Hit $13.76 Billion By 2010: Report

By Lisa Johnston -- TWICE, 9/3/2007

Service provider revenue for hosted VoIP services provided to both the U.S. residential-SO/HO and business markets is expected to jump from $3.98 billion in 2006, to $13.76 billion in 2010, according to a report by research firm Infonetics.

Meanwhile, worldwide revenue from residential host VoIP services jumped 68 percent between 2005 and 2006, while managed IP PBX service revenue grew 45 percent, said the company.

Worldwide VoIP service revenue jumped 66 percent in 2006, hitting $15.9 billion, and is expected to more than triple by 2010.

Other facts included in the report stated that the number of worldwide residential-SO/HO customers was 71 percent, while 29 percent were business customers. Also, the number of worldwide residential-SO/HO VoIP subs nearly doubled between 2005 and 2006, to 46.5 million.

Hosted VoIP services again outpaced managed IP PBX services, said Infonetics, and the residential services fueled the market, with the business segment expected to continue growing.

Softbank was crowned the world's largest VoIP service provider by Infonetics, with 18 percent subscriber market share. NTT, Vonage, France Telecom and Time Warner Cable followed.

Highlights of the report, titled "VoIP Services and Subscribers Market Size and Forecast," can be downloaded at www.download.infonetics.com.
