Syntax-Brillian Fiscal Q3 Revenue Up 115%

Tempe, Ariz. — Syntax-Brillian reported record revenue of $45.7 million, up 115 percent from a year ago, for its fiscal third quarter, which ended March 31.

The company said revenue for the period — the first full quarter since the formerly separate Syntax and Brillian companies merged — did not include approximately $4.1 million of products shipped prior to March 31, which had not been received by customers.

On a unit basis for the period, Syntax-Brillian said it shipped a record 67,500 units, representing an increase of 137 percent year-over-year. An additional 5,300 units were shipped in March but had not been received by customers.

The company showed an $11.4 million net loss for the quarter, compared with net income of $143,000, for the same period the previous year.

Rockford Q1 Sales Decline, Reports Loss

Tempe, Ariz. — Citing “softness” in the car audio specialist and mass retailers channels, Rockford announced that net sales for the first quarter of 2006 fell 24.5 percent to $29.9 million, down from $39.6 million in the first quarter last year.

Operating loss for the first quarter was $1.0 million, compared with an operating income of $271,000 in the same period of 2005. Net loss was $2.1 million for the quarter, compared with a net loss of $608,000 in the first quarter of 2005. The gross margin for the first quarter dropped to 28.2 percent, from 28.6 percent in last year's opening quarter.

BJ's Q1 Net Down On Higher Sales

Natick, Mass.— BJ's Wholesale Club reported net income of $15.4 million for its fiscal first quarter, ended April 29, down from $18.6 million for the same period last year. Net sales for the first quarter of this year increased by 6.3 percent, to $1.9 billion, BJ's said. Comp sales increased by 2.0 percent, including a contribution from gasoline sales of 1.4 percent.
