LAS VEGAS - The Panasonic Battery Sales Group announced here at the International CES earlier this month that it was launching an aggressive first-quarter promotional program designed to drive retailer sales and traffic.
Focusing on Panasonic's alkaline and photo/electronic batteries for digital consumer electronics, Alkaline Plus batteries and the @Home Super Heavy Duty battery line, the program offers consumers the chance to win a free Grand Canyon Adventure and other prizes such as outdoor gear packages and Panasonic battery products.
Additional promotions running concurrently will offer instant redeemable coupons toward Panasonic batteries and other products.
In its Alkaline for Digital promotion, Secaucus, N.J.-based Panasonic is giving $2 off instantly through June 30. An Alkaline Plus instant coupon offer through June 30 saves consumers 55 cents.
A Go Wild promotion through June 30 for alkaline and photo/electronic-for-digital batteries, Alkaline Plus and @Home Super Heavy Duty types is a combination sweepstakes/mail-in rebate promotion.
Panasonic introduced here what it calls the highest-capacity rechargeable battery to date. The AA 1,600mAh nickel-metal hydride battery, used with the company's five-hour Fast Charger, offers users the most powerful AA NiMH battery that may be charged in the shortest amount of time, said Panasonic.
Designed for use in high-drain portable digital consumer electronics, the batteries are said to have no memory effect and can be recharged hundreds and hundreds of times.
To charge these batteries, the new Fast Charger takes five hours to charge four NiMH types at the same time. It recharges both NiMH and nickel-cadmium batteries. Suggested retail for the Fast Charger with four AA 1,600mAh NiMH batteries is $29.99. Availability is the first quarter.
Individual two-packs of either the AA or AAA batteries have a suggested $9.99 retail. A four-pack of AA has a suggested $16.99 retail.
