Microtek To Launch Prosumer Film Scanner

By Staff -- TWICE, 11/6/2006

Microtek will ship a high-end scanner next February capable of handling a wide variety of film and art prints.

The ArtixScan M1 is a combination film/flatbed scanner that uses Microtek's proprietary Emulsion Direct Imaging Technology for better film scanning and will carry a $699 suggested retail when it ships in February. The company said the 4,800 dpi optical resolution delivered by the scanner of a typical 35mm film will result in an image file comparable to one taken by a 34-megapixel digital SLR camera. This will allow a 16-inch by 24-inch print to be made at 300 pixels per inch.

The M1 can scan 35mm, 6cm and 4-inch by 5-inch film formats and scan reflective art of prints as large at 8.5 inches by 14 inches.
