TEAC Names President, Promotes Execs

Montebello, Calif. — TEAC America promoted Koichiro Nakamura to the position of president, succeeding Hajime Yamaguchi, who died last month in Japan from heart failure.
The company also announced other promotions.
Nakamura will oversee sales, product development and technical support for the TEAC-, TASCAM- and ESOTERIC-branded products in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Central and South America. Nakamura joined TEAC in 1998 as Controller/chief financial officer. He previously held corporate positions in administration and finance with parent TEAC Corp. of Japan.
TEAC America also promoted Derek Davis to executive VP/COO; Kazutoshi Toba to consumer audio and ESOTERIC division manager; and named Les Luzar, the division manager for data storage and disc publishing products, to the company's executive committee.
Davis joined TEAC America in 1999 and was VP/general manager. Toba has served at TEAC America and the parent company and was most recently TEAC America's senior liaison/international product manager.
Former president Yamaguchi joined TEAC Corp. in 1969 and became part of TEAC America's management team in 1979. Yamaguchi was named president of TEAC America in 1994, and became a director of TEAC Corp. of Japan shortly thereafter.
