BSH Recalls Thermador Duel Cooktops

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 6/18/2007

BSH Home Appliances is voluntarily recalling about 2,000 Thermador ceramic cooktops in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission due to the potential for the units to turn back on by themselves after being switched off.

No injuries or incidents have been reported due to the potential safety hazard.

Two models are affected, numbers CIT302DS/01 and CIT362DS/01 with date codes between 8606 and 8612. The cooktops, which feature both electric and induction heating elements and a black ceramic glass surface, were manufactured in Spain and sold at specialty appliance stores nationwide between October 2006 and March 2007 for between $1,800 and $2,200 at retail.

BSH is offering consumers free in-home repair.
