Shure Debuts Integrated Earphone/Headset

By Staff -- TWICE, 12/5/2005

Shure has unveiled the I Series Integrated Sound Isolating earphones and mobile headset, a family of headset and earphone hybrids that is said to eliminate the need to carry two accessories for a portable audio player and cellular phone.

The I Series, which had been scheduled for November shipping, marries Shure's E Series Sound Isolating Earphones and QuietSpot Mobile Headsets to provide what the company calls the industry's first premium attachment to work with a cellphone, digital music player or convergence device.

The product is offered in three models, the i2C, i3C and i4C, and complements the iPod and as well as the PalmOne Treo.

The family of earphones will be available in two versions: a dual connector for attachment to an MP3 player and cellular phone, or a single connector for use with the Treo. Either version enables users to alternate between audio immersion and complete voice connection with one compact accessory.

All three models include Sound Isolating earphones, inline microphone, multifunction control switch and a personal “fit-kit” to ensure maximum sound isolation and secure and comfortable sleeves for the ear.

The i2C provides an introduction to listening and communications convergence for $119 suggested retail. The i3C is the lightest, most compact model in the class, with a $199 suggested retail. The i4C, at $319, includes high-definition drivers for detailed audio and extended bass response.
