iTunes Tagging Expands To More Radio Stations

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 6/30/2008

San Antonio — Clear Channel Radio doubled the number of its radio stations participating in iTunes Tagging, to 700, a service that lets owners of select HD Radios tag their favorite songs for purchase later on iTunes.

In April, Clear Channel launched the HD Radio-based iTunes HD Tagging free service with 340 stations and has expanded the service to 350 HD2 or multicast stations.

With iTunes Tagging, an owner of a current Polk Audio or Alpine iTunes Tagging receiver can push a button when he hears a favorite song on an HD Radio station. When the user later links his iPod to the receiver and subsequently to a PC, his tagged songs will appear in iTunes.

John Hogan, president and CEO of Clear Channel Radio, said, “With 700 of our HD stations now tagging-capable, and because of our collaboration with iTunes, iPods can now continuously be refreshed with new songs discovered on radio.”

Polk Audio’s I-Sonic Entertainment System 2 is available at nearly 200 Apple stores, at select Best Buy stores and online. Alpine’s two aftermarket auto iTunes Tagging devices are the iDA-X100 digital media receiver and IVA-W505 2-DIN mobile media station.
