By Joseph Palenchar -- TWICE, 7/21/2005

Framingham, Mass. — Bose’s third home theater system with HDD music server is the Bose 321 GSX, available direct from Bose and through select retailers in August at a unilateral retail price of $1,699.

The GSX is also Bose’s first two-speaker system with music server. It joins the five-speaker Lifestyle 38 or 48 at an everyday $2,999 and $3,999, respectively.

All three systems feature BoseLink networking technology, which allows for wired or wireless music distribution to clients in other rooms. The Lifestyle systems stream simultaneously, while the GSX streams one at a time.

Using wired BoseLink, the Lifestyle systems can be used to create a two-source, 14-room distributed-audio network. The wireless option allows for enables consumers to cut the cord to eight of those rooms. The GSX allows for the addition of only a single room, a spokeswoman said. Clients include the two-speaker Series II Bose 321 and Bose 321 GS at an everyday $999 and $1,299, respectively; the $499 Wave Music System table radio/CD; the $349 radio-only Wave Radio 2; and the $499 Roomate one-chassis amplified speaker system, which is sold with BoseLink cable and an RF remote that displays song titles of music stored on the hard drives.

A wireless add-on option, the AL8 at an expected everyday $399, consists of a separate transmitter and receiver with range of more than 80 feet in a household environment. Additional receivers are available at $149.
