Layoffs At Circuit City HQ: Report
By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 11/7/2008
Richmond, Va. — More than a quarter of Circuit City’s headquarters employees may be losing their jobs, according to a report in the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
The newspaper cited one of the affected workers, who indicated that between 500 and 800 employees are being let go. The layoffs reportedly began yesterday with the departure of several “upper management” executives, the source said.
The remainder of the company’s approximate 1,000 headquarters staffers will be consolidated into one building, according to the report.
Local radio station WVRA reported seeing workers leaving Circuit City headquarters this morning, and posted a video from the scene.
A Circuit City spokesman told TWICE the company is withholding comment out of respect for its associates.
The retailer announced on Monday it would downsize its United States workforce by about 17 percent as part of its closure of 155 stores.

My friend was one of the let go CC employee, she was giving the salary to the Jan 9, 2009. With full health insurance. Considering what CC is facing, I think this is not a bad package.

Employess are being laid off without severance packages. No retirement. That is NOT right. Circuit City should be ashamed.
