Lenmar Offers Lithium-Ion Solutions

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 9/25/2000

P>WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CALIF. -- Lenmar has slated December for shipping its 3,000mAh lightweight lithium-ion rechargeable battery to computer retailers and battery specialty dealers.

The battery is designed to power most notebook computers on the market and offers a compact external battery pack designed to plug directly into the laptop power supply.

Called the Lenmar UNL300, the pack will power notebooks that range between 10.8 and 24 volts. The battery will include its own AC/DC charging unit and different plug sizes to attach easily into different notebook configurations. Suggested retail has not been set.

Lenmar is shipping lithium-ion battery packs for Canon Optura and ZR model camcorders. Called the Lenmar LIC511 and LIC522, suggested retails are $69.95 and $119.95, respectively. The company also offers three capacity sizes for the JVC GR-DVL series and Panasonic PV-DV series.

In addition to its selection of camcorder batteries and battery chargers, the company has expanded its battery range to cover all digital camera models, cellular, cordless phone and two-way radio.

Also, along with selling to retailers through its batterycentral.com website, Lenmar said it is linking retailers' websites to batterycentral.com -- "allowing retailers to sell and service their customers without stocking deep inventories," according to Lenmar president Marty Goldberg.

The company offers about 1,000 battery models, Goldberg said, which are cross-referenced to more than 12,000 different wireless devices.
