Universal, Vizio Extend Pact

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 2/21/2007

Cypress, Calif. — Vizio has selected Universal Electronics to supply universal remote controls for a new line of large-screen plasma TVs, called MAXIMVS, which are slated for delivery later in 2007, the companies said.

For the past year, UEI has produced has been a supplier of remote control devices for Vizio’s 2006 range of plasma and LCD HDTV solutions.

The new agreement extends the relationship to new lines of plasma and LCD TV models due out this year.

New remotes will be equipped with UEI’s device code database for universal compatibility, as well as enhanced features including direct set, one-touch macro and back-lighting technology.

The new UEI remotes will be available in the spring of 2007 and are scheduled to be phased in with the new MAXIMVS lineup of Vizio plasma HDTV televisions, beginning with the VM60PHDTV.
