APC Intros Two New Power Protectors

Staff -- TWICE, 4/30/2001

WEST KINGSTON, R.I. — A new line of desktop uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for small office desktop use has been introduced by American Power Conversion.

Called the Back-UPS CS 350 and CS 500, the units offer a smaller, sleeker form factor with six high-powered outlets, optimized alarm indicators and fax/modem and DSL surge protection. The units can save files and shut down either Windows 3.x, 95, 98, Me, NT 2000 or Macintosh OS9 (9.0.4 and higher) operating systems through serial or USB communication cables.

These are said to be the first and only UPS with both USB and serial communications to shut down a variety of operating systems. Both products offer a $25,000 lifetime connected equipment protection policy and a two-year comprehensive warranty.

Suggested retails are $84.99 for the CS 350 and $129.99 for the CS 500.
