Pure Video Revamps Single-Use Camcorder

By Greg Scoblete -- TWICE, 5/2/2006

San Francisco, Calif. — Single-use digital still and video camera maker Pure Digital announced a new version of its digital camcorder today that does not require store processing and a partnership with Thomson to offer a version of its low-cost video capture device under the RCA Small Wonders brand.

The Pure Digital point-and-shoot camcorder will initially be available at Target and features internal flash memory and a USB port for transferring video off the camera. It can also be sent to Pure Digital partner retail locations such as CVS, Rite-Aid, Ritz and Wolf Camera stores for DVD burning.

The camcorder, which will retail for $129.99, can store 30 minutes of VGA resolution video on its internal memory and features a 1.4-inch color playback screen and 22x digital zoom. Video can be deleted, and built-in software enables users to e-mail and view videos on a PC. Once connected to a PC, the unit’s internal software automatically boots up to aid in file transfer and video e-mailing.

The camcorder is powered by two AA batteries.

RCA is adopting the Pure Digital Video platform for its own line of RCA-branded models, initially available directly on the RCA Small Wonder Web site.
