Music Video Site Simplifies PMP Transfers

By Joseph Palenchar -- TWICE, 6/12/2007

Marina Del Rey, Calif. – CinemaNow, the movie- and TV-show download site, has relaunched its music video Web site, WatchMusicHere.com, to make it easier to port downloads to a portable media player (PMP).

WatchMusicHere.com, launched in March 2005, is now offering downloads in a 1,500K single-file format playable on a PC and on a PMP. The protected Windows Media Video (WMV) download eliminates the need to download two files — one for a PC and another for a PMP, the company said.

CinemaNow said it is the first premium video-download service to offer music-video downloads in single-file format for playback on up to three compatible desktop and laptop PCs, Media Center Edition PCs, and PMPs. The download-to-own files retail for $1.99 each.

Through July 21, the relaunched site will offer more than 1,600 music videos exclusively from Warner Music Group. After that, additional WMG content will be available as well as content from other major record labels, the company said.

To promote the relaunched site, CinemaNow is giving away three Archos 604 Wi-Fi-equipped PMPs. Consumers who buy a Warner video between now and July 21 are automatically entered for a chance to win the device, an Archos 604 Wi-Fi portable video player. Three winners will be randomly selected.

CinemaNow offers legal downloads of more than 4,000 feature-length films, shorts, music concerts and television programs from more than 250 licensors including 20th Century Fox, ABC News, Disney, HDNet, Lionsgate, MGM, Miramax, NBC Universal, New Line Cinema, Paramount Pictures, Sony, Sundance Channel and Warner Bros.

CinemaNow investors include EchoStar, Microsoft, Lionsgate, Cisco Systems and Blockbuster.
