Tapestries Weaves Design Solution

By Staff -- TWICE, 9/4/2008

High Point, N.C.-based Tapestries is showing in booth 962 its flat-screen cover, a tapestry hanging on a motorized rod that, via an included remote control, raises and lowers the fabric to cover a flat-panel TV.

Customers choose the tapestry design that suits their décor and the proper size to cover their TV. The company offers "hundreds of beautiful tapestries, woven on traditional jacquard looms throughout Europe, as well as exquisite hand-woven tapestries woven in the Aubusson style," according to CEO Andrew Kane.

The display brackets are hand-painted and are available in various designs and finishes to coordinate with the tapestry, while serving the function of supporting the motorized rod.

The cover can be used with practically any size tapestry, because the rod is custom cut to fit the fabric, though the maximum width of the rod is 86 inches and the maximum weight of the tapestry is 12 pounds.

The motor is powered by either a 12-volt battery wand or AC power through a wall plug. An upgraded motor is available that is compatible with universal remote controls, for use in media rooms with home-automation systems.

The suggested retail, including the motor, power supply, rod, hardware and remote control, starts at $476, plus the cost of the preferred tapestry and display brackets. According to the company, a complete package, including a standard Belgian tapestry to cover a 42-inch or 46-inch television, display brackets and a motorized rod set, is less than $1,000.
