Digital Deck Hits CompUSA

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 8/23/2006

Redwood City, Calif. — Home networking equipment manufacturer Digital Deck said this week it is selling its Digital Deck Home Media Entertainment System in 20 CompUSA stores across eight regional territories.

Digital Deck’s system, which includes a Media Connector, software and service, was introduced earlier this year and lets users access live TV, recorded programs, music and photos from one room for playback in any connected room in the house.

Digital Deck’s software runs on Windows XP and uses a television interface for accessing music, pictures and TV/video recordings.

The system also provides digital video recorder (DVR) features, which can be shared in every connected room, including scheduling of recordings, pausing live television, and rewind/fast forward through recorded programs.

The technology also works with TiVo, iTunes and Flickr to extend those capabilities throughout a home network.

Digital Deck said initial CompUSA markets to carry the product include Dallas/Fort Worth; San Francisco/San Jose; Sacramento; Los Angeles; San Diego; Portland, Ore.; Seattle and Orlando, Fla.

The specific store locations can be found on the Digital Deck Web site. Digital Deck will be featured in a self-running demo display in the home electronics section in each of the CompUSA stores.

“CompUSA is an ideal partner to begin our in-store presence in select markets across the country and helps us meet customer demand for delivering digital media products that now will work together,” stated Joe Harris, Digital Deck marketing VP.
