AG Neovo Bows Pair Of Hybrid LCD Displays

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 2/10/2003

AG Neovo, a supplier of flat-panel computer monitors, said it has developed a pair of hybrid LCD displays that incorporate a TV tuner, enabling the panels to do double duty as LCD TVs.

LCD models F-315 and F-317 were said to be designed for "the pro audio, gaming and consumer markets." They incorporate Sound Retrieval System surround sound audio technology, built-in amplifiers and speakers and picture-in-picture functions.

The F-315 ($499 suggested retail) and F-317 ($599) also incorporate an F-series NTSC TV tuner and remote control, enabling them to change from a PC monitor to a TV set with the push of a button.

Neovo said the tuner is compatible with NTSC, PAL and SECAM standards. It is cable-ready with up to 128 channels, supports TV, CATV and video functions, and provides full control of all TV commands via an infrared remote control.

The built-in audio system also includes a TruBass system, to give deep bass response without a subwoofer; WOW, which provides enhancement for stereo playback; and the FOCUS system, which elevates the sound field from floor to ear level.

Both models include RGB, S-Video and component video inputs. The PIP feature will allow viewers to watch video feeds live while working in real time with PC office applications.

The F-315 model is equipped with a 15-inch LCD display with up to 1,024 by 768 XGA resolution. The contrast ratio is listed at 500:1 and brightness is 250cd/m2.

Model F-317 features a 17-inch TFT active matrix screen with 1,280 by 1,024 XGA resolution. Contrast is listed at 400:1, and brightness is 250cd/m2.
