Harman International Buys PhatNoise

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 9/5/2005

The consumer group of Harman International announced that it acquired the assets and customer business of PhatNoise, Inc., the Los Angeles-based company that sells car audio hard-drive players for the OEM and after market.

PhatNoise said that Harman will retain all of PhatNoise's senior management, and its employees and its offices will remain intact.

“In its six-year history, [PhatNoise] has defined the leading edge of digital media systems in the automotive market and counts Kenwood, General Motors, Volvo, Mazda, Volkswagen and Audi among its customers,” commented Gina Harman, president of the Harman consumer group. “The addition of the PhatNoise team to our engineering group will greatly accelerate the delivery of innovative products for the automotive environment,” she added.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
