Oregon Scientific, Fujifilm License SMaL Design

Boston — Digital camera OEM SMaL Camera technologies announced that Oregon Scientific and Fujifilm will manufacture and sell the company's Ultra-Pocket 1.3-megapixel digital camera. The Ultra-Pocket is SMaL's second generation design, building on its 6mm thick VGA model. The new design, announced in February, features increased resolution, SD card support and 16MB internal memory. It is also a tad thicker at 8mm. Oregon Scientific, which licensed the original SMaL design, will market the new camera under its ThinCam line in the U.S. market as the DS6628. It will join the DS6618, which stays on the market. Fujifilm will market the camera in Japan under its Axia brand.

SanDisk, Sony Extend Memory Stick Partnership

Sunnyvale, Calif.— SanDisk and Sony announced that they have signed a cross licensing agreement regarding Sony's MemoryStick flash media format. SanDisk, which holds a right to manufacture Memory Stick PRO media based on a January 2003 agreement, is now authorized to manufacture and sell all Memory Stick formats including Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick with Memory Select Function and Memory Stick I/O cards, under the SanDisk brand.

Delkin Bundles New Adobe Albums With PicturePAD

Poway, Calif. — Delkin Devices will bundle Adobe's new imaging program Albums with its eFilm PicturePAD. Albums, which is retailing standalone for $49.99, replaces Photoshop Elements as the PicturePAD's software bundle. Albums is aimed at helping users organize their digital images on their computers. The PDA-sized PicturePAD is a portable digital storage device with a built-in color LCD screen and a Windows-like menu system to organize them. The PicturePAD currently is available in 20GB, 30GB, 40GB, and 60GB, with suggested retails from $479 to $699.
