Home Depot Responds To Whirlpool Merger Statement

In arguments addressing antitrust concerns stemming from its proposed acquisition of Maytag, Whirlpool has indicated “a complete lack of opposition to the transaction” from its 20 largest retail customers and buying groups (see TWICE, Aug. 22, p. 4).

The Home Depot, in a statement to TWICE, said it wished to clarify its position relative to Whirlpool's acquisition of Maytag. “Our official position is that we do not comment on mergers or acquisitions of our supplier partners,” the company said.
