Photokina News: Smartparts Ships Wi-Fi-Enabled Frame

Cologne, Germany — Digital frame maker Smartparts will ship its first Wi-Fi-enabled frames to dealers in November, the company announced at the Photokina trade show, here.

SmartpartsThe company will offer wireless frames in 8-inch and 32-inch sizes.

The 8-inch SPXWF, for $149, will feature a pre-assigned email address for receiving photos via email, built-in image correction and photo-organization software.

The frame features a 24-bit LCD screen with a resolution of 800 by 600. The frame can connect to Windows Live Photo Gallery. It features a dedicated button for connecting to a wireless network and bundles software for transferring images from a computer to the frame, wirelessly. 

Additional features include 512MB worth of internal memory and support for the popular flash-memory formats. Images are automatically resized and corrected as they’re loaded onto the frame.

The SP3200WF will be a wireless version of the 32-inch frame the company introduced at International CES earlier this year. It will also connect to Windows Live Photo Gallery.

The 16:9 frame offers a resolution of 1,366 by 768, supports video and audio playback, and features an RF remote with an operating range of 100 feet, the company said. It uses the firm OptiPix Pro software for wirelessly transferring images from a computer to the frame.

Pricing was not announced.
