Sony Debuts Specialist Line
By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 1/6/2005
Las Vegas — Sony is releasing its first specialty retailer line since it discontinued the Mobile ES series in 2000. The new Specialist Xplod Series offers higher performance and unique features such as a synchro-flip face plate that allows users to flip down the face but still maintain access to the CD slot. The line comes with a two-year warranty and leads with a CD receiver at $199. The step-up CDX-R5175X has a synchro-flip detachable faceplate, dot-matrix FL display, ATRAC 3 and MP3 playback, 52 watt x 4 high power, and XM capability and will ship in February at around $220.
