Pansonic Oxyride Batteries 'Improve' On Alkaline Performance

By Staff -- TWICE, 5/23/2005

Panasonic is shipping this spring its new Oxyride Extreme Power AA and AAA batteries, featuring what the company calls “the next generation in battery technology specifically designed for the digital era.”

Called by Panasonic the most significant development in primary battery technology in 40 years, since the debut of the alkaline cell, the Oxyride is said to be more powerful and durable than the alkaline. It is said to keep its voltage on a high and stable level, ideal for powering digital devices such as cameras, handheld games and portable audio products.

Panasonic claims Oxyride AA batteries last twice as long as alkaline cells, doubling the amounts of pictures and stimulating more rapid flash recovery in digital cameras. In MP3 units and CD players, the Oxyride batteries averaged 1.5 times more power than Panasonic's alkaline cells, according to the company.

The maker will be offering a 4-pack of AA cells, model ZR-6XA/4B, and a 4-pack of AAA cells, model ZR-03XA/4B, both at a suggested $3.99 retail.
