Bjorn's Spotlights 3DTV Technology

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 10/8/2007

Bjorn's Audio Video showcased Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's 3D-enabled DLP HDTVs last month, marking the retail debut of the technology.

The consumer-level 3DTV system, unveiled to the trade in August, won't be available until next year.

For the Bjorn's demo, Mitsubishi is providing its Electric Mobile Marketing Trailer, a 53-foot semi truck crammed with more than a dozen 1080p HDTVs including the 3D models. Inside, chipmaker Texas Instruments conducted demonstrations of the system, which uses specially produced or mastered 3D images to create dynamic effects for viewers wearing special "stereoscopic" eye glasses.

Bjorn's is part of a nationwide tour of Mitsubishi dealers this fall.

The 3D-demo continued Bjorn's founder Bjorn Dybdahl's long-standing tradition of introducing customers to advanced A/V technologies.
