Sharp, Mets Ink TV, Community-Interest Deal

By Staff -- TWICE, 3/30/2009

Sharp Electronics has reached multiyear agreement with the New York Mets to outfit the team's new Citi Field stadium with Aquos LCD TVs and to collaborate on a community outreach program.

Sharp is supplying more than 800 Aquos LCD HDTVs to be installed throughout Citi Field's concourses, restaurants, club spaces and more than 200,000 square feet of event space. Sharp will also mount one of its 108-inch class LCD TVs in the stadium's main lobby.

The company will receive significant in-game branding at Citi Field.

Sharp will also take an active role in the Mets' community outreach efforts as title sponsor of the Mets/Sharp Electronics Student-Athlete Leadership Conference Series. The program trains more than 1,200 student-athletes from 30 Long Island high schools to provide drug- and alcohol-abuse prevention education to more than 15,000 grade school children.
