Sakar Debuts Bevy Of Licensed Electronics

Sakar International is introducing a spate of licensed electronics products this year. The company plans to debut its new wares at International Toy Fair, being held in New York this month.

As a new licensee of Warner Bros.' Speed Racer brand, Sakar is bowing a line of electronics products that will reach stores in time to coincide with the release of the "Speed Racer" movie on May 9. According to the company, the line will include products like digital still and video cameras, alarm clock radios, walkie-talkies, flashlights, MP3 players, text messengers and more at prices ranging between $5 and $80.

Sakar also recently secured the rights to develop consumer electronics products to launch in time for the upcoming Marvel Entertainment "Incredible Hulk" and "Iron Man" movies. These lines, which will include flashlights, "spy gear," CD players, MP3 players and digital video cameras will also debut to the trade at Toy Fair and, according to the company, will retail in time for each film's respective release dates. Pricing will again range between $5 and $80.

Sakar also said it has plans to debut a new line of electronics based on Sanrio's Hello Kitty brand. The line will feature digital, video and Web cameras; computer accessories; MP3/MP4 players; and more. The Hello Kitty products are set to reach stores in "early summer 2008" and will be marketed to kids, tweens and teens.

Sakar is adding to its lineup of licensed Crayola-brand consumer electronics, aimed at children ages 3 to 7. New products include a digital video camera ($69.99), an upgraded digital camera ($59.99) and three different kinds of flashlights.

Finally, Sakar is introducing its own line of Gear Girl-branded computer accessories for tween girls. The line will be available at retail early this year and will include a gel mousepad, a Web cam, a headset, an optical mouse, a computer speaker system and a keyboard at suggested retails ranging between $14.99 and $29.99.
