Samsung Launches Online Blu-ray Center

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 6/20/2008

Ridgefield Park, N.J. – Samsung Electronics launched Friday a new online Blu-ray Resource Center from its main Web site, to inform consumers about the technology, Samsung’s Blu-ray offerings and to provide new firmware introductions for existing models.

The Blu-ray Resource Center includes FAQs, and a live chatroom with Samsung Blu-ray support specialists. The company vows to keep things fresh with a new Weekly Topic giving Samsung's perspective on current Blu-ray product issues with further education on technology.

The site is divided into two sections offering customized content for audiences consisting of “Blu-ray Owners” and those “Looking to Buy.”

Current owners will be able to register a Samsung Blu-ray player, enabling them to receive firmware update notices via email. Weekly Topics aimed to help current Blu-ray owners will address issues such as firmware upgrades, audio codecs and BD-Live, Samsung said.

Future Blu-ray owners will find simplified Blu-ray FAQs for beginners and information on various Samsung Blu-ray players including direct links for online purchases. Weekly Topics will be aimed at helping future Blu-ray owners determine the best Blu-ray player to purchase, Samsung said.
