Mark Levinson Shows Power Amps

By Staff -- TWICE, January 8, 2009

Mark Levinson, a unit of Harman International Industries, is showing a a monaural power amplifier and a media console at North Hall meeting rooms N240 and N242 at International CES this week.

The No532 offers two 400-watt monaural power amplifiers housed in a single chassis designed to isolate the audio circuits from interference and noise, the company said.

The unit has three distinct piers with control and power circuitry residing in the center pier, separate from the audio circuitry, which resides in the two outer piers — one dedicated to each channel. The audio signal output path contains 24 output devices per channel, providing an impressive power capability while minimizing crossover distortion. The unit provides both RCA and XLR connectors that accept balanced signals directly into the input stage of the amplifier, with no additional circuitry, the supplier said.

The No502 media console is designed to offer an adjustment range of 120dB, preserving the full resolution of the signal. It features Harman International's proprietary Logic 7 technology, in addition to the standard suite of Dolby and DTS listening modes, and its bass-management system utilizes phase-matched signal paths to prevent signal cancellation, the company said.

The No502 also provides an array of analog and HDMI inputs and outputs that can convert all of the inputs into a single output and scale them to the optimum resolution for driving the display device, the company said.

Suggested retails and shipment dates are available at the show.
