Research Triangle Park, N.C. — Lenovo will start shipping a new $349 netbook later this month.
The IdeaPad S10-2 is geared toward online enthusiasts and social networkers, the company said. It features 3G connectivity and, at 1-inch thick and weighing less than 2 pounds, is smaller and lighter then its predecessor, the IdeaPad.
Despite the smaller size, the S10-2 has a keyboard that is 90 percent that of a traditional notebook, and it has 30 percent more battery life. It also features three USB ports and a four-in-one card reader.
The S10-2 will be available through www.lenovo.com at the end of May and through the retail channel in June.
Lenovo also upgraded the industrial design adding a ring pattern to the top and making it available in pink, white or black.
