Canon Debuts New All-In-Ones

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 2/23/2009

Canon will update its all-in-ones this month with a pair of new models, adding wireless networking.

Both the Pixma MX860 and MX330 feature an auto-scan mode, which recognizes the type of document being scanned and saves it in the proper format. Images and PDFs can be scanned directly to connected USB drives or flash-memory cards.

Both multifunction devices will incorporate a Super G3 fax with a confirmation prompt for averting misdialed faxes. They can also create password-protected PDF files.

They will also employ a hybrid dye and pigment ink system and include an auto-photo-fix function to remedy defective images.

The Pixma MX860 features built-in wireless networking, Ethernet connectivity, auto duplex copying and a two-way paper-feeding mechanism. The unit offers a fax memory of up to 250 pages, a 2.5-inch LCD screen and five individual ink tanks for a resolution of up to 9,600 by 2,400 dpi. The scanner offers a resolution of 2,400 dpi.

It can produce a 4-inch by 6-inch print in 41 seconds and will retail for $199.

The MX330 offers a fax memory of up to 50 pages, a 1.8-inch LCD screen, a 1,200 dpi scanner and a four-color ink system capable of producing a 4,800 by 2,400 dpi resolution print. It can churn out a 4- by 6-inch photo in 45 seconds, Canon said.

The MX330 will retail for $109.
