LG Brings Flat-Panel Line To CEDIA

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 9/13/2006

Denver — LG Electronics (booth 258) is announcing at CEDIA Expo the availability of its 60W-inch high definition plasma display model 60PC1D ($5,399 suggested retail), and will showcase key models in its entire flat-panel assortment.

The new 60W-inch TV shares the same industrial design as the second-quarter-released 50W-inch 50PC1DRA ($3,699 suggested retail), HD plasma with built-in DVR. Like that unit, the 60PC1D includes LG’s XD Engine technology to produce a 7,000:1 contrast ratio and a wide color gamut. Also added are built-in ATSC/NTSC/ QAM tuners (with LG’s fifth-generation VSB digital TV reception chipset), and two HDMI inputs.

The 50W-inch plasma HDTV/DVD, meanwhile, will also be showcased for custom installers. The unit features a built-in 160-GB HD-DVR that is capable of storing up to 13 hours of high-definition programming or 63 hours of digital standard-definition programming.

The 50PC1DRA also features a Gemstar Digital TV Guide Onscreen interactive program guide, which displays eight days of program information. The unit is Digital Cable Ready and offers a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, 1366 by 768p resolution and 14-bit color processor.

Other HD plasma models to be displayed include the 50W-inch 50PC3D ($2,999), the 42W-inch 42PC1DA ($1,999) and the 71W-inch MW-71PY10 1080p display.

LG is also showcasing for custom installers its LCD HDTV assortment that includes new 47W-inch 1080p LCD and 42W-inch models with built-in HD-DVRs.

The 47W-inch Digital Cable Ready 47LB1DA ($3,999) LCD TV features the progressive-scan 1920 by 1080 resolution, a 14-bit color processor, LG’s XD Engine and built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuning with a digital CableCARD slot. Other features include TV Guide On-Screen, two HDMI inputs with HDCP, and a swivel stand. The unit is also VESA compatible for convenient installation.

It will be joined by the 55W-inch 1080p LCD TV model 55LP1M ($10,399).

LG’s flagship 42W-inch LCD TV/DVR model 42LB1DRA ($2,599) will store up to 15 hours of HD content or 66 hours of standard definition content. It includes ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuning, CableCARD slot and TV Guide Onscreen.

Other LG 42W-inch LCD HDTVs are the 42LB1DR and 42LC2D, both available now with at suggested retail prices of $2,499 and $2,099, respectively.
