Retail Sales Of LCD TV Up 130% In '04

Staff -- TWICE, 3/21/2005

U.S. LCD-TV sales to consumers grew 130 percent over 2003 in both value and units shipped, according to a recent market study from Quixel Research.

Quixel said fourth-quarter LCD-TV dollar volume alone topped $1 billion.

“This technology continues to expand its reach in the marketplace, said Tamaryn Pratt, Quixel's principal. This year's affordable price points for the 20-inch and under segments were the catalyst for the explosive sales.”

The newly published LCD-TV market review also shows the fast emerging trend toward larger screen sizes, with the 30W-inch and above screen-size segment experiencing the greatest growth with a 270 percent increase from 2003 to 2004.

This increased demand will ramp up 2005 sales for midsize LCD TVs at more affordable price points, Quixel said.
