Samsung Change Won't Affect U.S.

By Staff -- TWICE, 6/2/2008

Samsung Electronics executives here said that while its parent company has restructured its CE and appliances business worldwide, there should be no impact on U.S. operations.

Among other moves, Samsung will combine its home appliance business with its digital media division globally.

Spokesmen for the company here said the changes in Seoul will have no impact on Samsung's CE or white-goods businesses in the United States, as both units will continue to operate under one umbrella group, Samsung Electronics America, as they have for the past several years.

According to reports out of Samsung global headquarters, the company is also transferring its MP3, notebook PC and set-top box businesses to its telecommunications network division, and reshuffled executives at its printing and display divisions.

According to reports, Jay Y. Lee, son of former Samsung Group chairman Kun-Hee Lee, is also being reassigned and put in charge of developing businesses in emerging markets, including China, India and Russia.
