RILA: Apple, B&O Among 'World's Top Stores'
Staff -- TWICE, 9/20/2004
Arlington, Va. — The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) has included Apple Stores and Bang & Olufsen Concept Stores on its list of “40 of the World's Best Stores.”
The two vendor-operated retail chains were the sole CE entries in the trade association's study.
The list, which will be expanded into a series of regional reports and profiles called Future Retail Now, is based on best people practices, best shopping experience and best retail systems.
According to RILA's Paula Payton, Apple was cited for its high style and performance. “The way product is showcased allows shoppers to experience the full range of Apple products in a fun and stimulating area,” she said. RILA also applauded the store personnel's “enthusiastic assistance” and “high-touch” customer service.
Similarly, Bang & Olufsen improves the CE shopping experience by positioning high-tech products as “heroes,” while the uncluttered stores mirror the minimalist design of the equipment. “The store design creates retail theater for the eyes and ears of tech-savvy shoppers equally interested in high fashion,” Payton said.
