Juno On Blu-ray On April 15

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 2/20/2008

Century City, Calif. — If the end of the format war wasn’t enough, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, Wednesday, gave HD fence sitters another good reason to go out and buy a Blu-ray Disc player. The studio said it will release the Oscar-contending “Juno” in BD and DVD formats on April 15 (pre-book March 19).

“Juno,” starring Ellen Page and Michael Cera and directed by Jason Reitman, has been nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress.

The home disc release will be supported by “a massive marketing campaign rivaling that of summer blockbusters and will be the first Fox Home Entertainment DVD sold at Starbucks company-operated locations in the U.S., as well as other retailers,” the studio said.

Various disc packages will include extensive bonus materials including a commentary by Reitman and screenwriter Diablo Cody, 11 deleted scenes, a gag reel, screen tests and more.

The DVD will be released in both single-disc and two-disc packages. The single-disc Blu-ray version includes additional extras and will ship day-and-date with the DVDs. The Blu-ray and two-disc DVD sets will include Fox’s new “Digital Copy,” allowing viewers to quickly and easily transfer a digital version of the film to a Mac or Windows-based computer and then to select portable video devices including an iPod and/or iPhone.

The critically acclaimed movie is an edgy comedy that follows Juno (played by Page), a typical teenager with an offbeat personality, quick wit and unplanned pregnancy. When one afternoon of boredom leads her into the arms of her best friend, Juno begins a hilarious nine-month journey of self-discovery into adulthood.

The single-disc DVD will carry a $29.98 suggested retail. The two-disc DVD will carry a $34.98 suggested retail and the Blu-ray Disc will be available for a $39.98 suggested retail.
