Memorex Mice Point Toward Laptop Travel

Staff -- TWICE, 9/20/2004

Memorex is expanding its family of high-performance computer accessories with new travel mice for “consumers who seek style and quality.”

The company's Prism Optical Travel Mouse and ScrollPro Travel Mouse are about 50 percent to 35 percent smaller, respectively, than traditional mice. This makes these accessories ideal for both laptop and desktop computers when space is limited.

The Prism mouse features an illuminated scroll wheel designed to personalize a laptop or coordinate with today's modified desktop PCs. The 800 dpi wired mouse includes a retractable USB cord and features optical laser technology to ensure precise cursor control and comfortable design for both left- and right-handed users.

The ScrollPro mouse, in a sleek black and silver design, features optical laser technology, a 400 dpi resolution, a scroll wheel for faster navigation and both USB and PS/2 connectors.

Suggested retail for the Prism mouse is $19.99 and the ScrollPro is $14.99. Both were available during the summer.

In other news from Memorex, the company is introducing 16x DVD+R media, which the company says delivers the fastest burn time and highest performance available for burning home movies, favorite music, family photos and important data — half the time of 8x media.

Memorex is among the first makers to meet the demand for 16x DVD+R media, bringing the highest speed optical media available to the retail shelf. With 16x DVD burners also scheduled to appear this summer, consumers can use 16x DVD+R media to burn an entire disc — a full two hours of video — in approximately six minutes. The discs store 4.7GB of video, photo, music or data files.

Memorex 16x DVD+R discs complement the company's high-performance DVD recorders, as well as the new internal and external D2 dual-format, double-layer 16x DVD recorders also just announced.

The 16x DVD+R media had been scheduled for August shipping, with discs initially available in 5-packs, at suggested retail of $11.99 per pack.
