AR Speakers To Settle Family Feuds

By Joseph Palenchar -- TWICE, 6/15/2006

New York - Audiovox has developed more than 50 speaker-hiding, acoustically transparent home accents designed to settle spousal arguments by hiding speakers in the Acoustic-Research-branded Home Décor line.

The selection was developed based on focus groups and retail tests, said senior VP Tom Malone.

The speaker-covering accents, the only such products currently on the market, include mantel clocks, candle holders, faux books, planters, wall sconces, vases, floor-standing baskets as well as vases and trunks that cover subwoofers.

The accents, which just began shipping, are shaped specifically to cover only the AR home theater speaker package, which retails for a suggested $899. The accessories are individually priced at $29.99 to $59.99 for the satellite speakers and $79.99 to $99.99 for the subwoofer covers.
