Audiovox Introduces Child Locator

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 12/23/2002

Audiovox is entering the "personal locator" market with a new child locator system. Called the CL500W, it is expected to be part of a new series of products that will include pet finders and even products to locate household valuables.

The CL500W includes a wrist transmitter with a 1-mile range for the child to wear. Parents can also set the transmitter to operate at a narrower range and the unit will sound an alarm if the child steps out of that range.

The system comes with a two-way transceiver for the parent for locating the child via eight directional points. It can operate with four additional devices for tracking several kids. The CL500W has a target retail of $200 for a set.
