Canon Bows New Compact Photo Printer

Lake Success, N.Y. — Canon will ship a new compact photo printer in its Selphy line to dealers this month.

The Selphy ES2 is a 4-inch by 6-inch printer. It features a 3-inch LCD with a scroll wheel for navigating through images and menu functions. It can add frames, clip art and image effects to photos without a PC.

The ES2 will include 16 frames for postcard sized photos, new clip art and nine image stamps. The printer can create a number of image effects such as edge and focus softening.

A portrait image optimizer feature can detect a face within a photo and correct brightness and contrast. The printer can also automatically remove red eye.

It will retail for an estimated $199.
