Panasonic To Supply GM With DVD System

DETROIT— Panasonic said it will provide General Motors with a Panasonic-branded DVD rear-seat entertainment system, which will be available in 14 full-size 2003 SUVs, pickups and crossover vehicles from Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Pontiac and Buick. The system will include a Panasonic automotive DVD player, an overhead and retractable 7-inch, 16:9 aspect LCD screen, two sets of wireless headphones and remote.

Boston Accoustics Enters OEM Market

PEABODY, MASS. — Boston Acoustics has entered the automotive OEM market for the first time through a partnership with Visteon Corp. to provide Chrysler Group with premium audio systems for upcoming vehicles. The systems will combine Boston Acoustics' speakers with Visteon's electronics and digital signal processing. Specifics on the participating Chrysler models and release dates were not available. Last fall, Boston Acoustics entered a joint development agreement with Visteon to combine Boston speakers with Visteon electronics to create sound systems targeting leading vehicle manufacturers.

2nd Gen. Polk/MOMO Speakers Hit Market

BALTIMORE — Speaker manufacturer Polk Audio debuted its second generation of Polk/MOMO aftermarket car speakers. Designed in collaboration with Italian performance accessory supplier MOMO, the speakers offer better performance at lower price points than the original models and come with a three-year parts and labor warranty, according to Polk. The line includes a two-way 6.5- inch component system, two component subwoofers and two pre-enclosed subwoofer systems. These were engineered by Polk and designed by MOMO.
