CES 2009: Garmin Offers Map Update Program
By my Gilroy -- TWICE, January 7, 2009
Las Vegas — Garmin announced it will offer a new map update program that lets users, for a one-time fee, download quarterly updates to maps and point-of-interest information for the lifetime of their personal navigation device (PND).
Customers can purchase the NuMaps Lifetime retail package through a retailer or online at $119 for U.S. maps and $149 for U.S. and European maps. Subscribers can also sign up to receive email notices when each new map update is published — up to four times annually. A one-time map upgrade is also available at $69.99.
Garmin also announced just prior to International CES a new EcoRoute free download that allows Garmin Nuvi 200 and 700 series PNDs to calculate gas consumption and to navigate by way of the most fuel-efficient route.
