CompUSA Gets Third President/CEO This Year

Dallas — CompUSA has named Roman Ross, a former Philip Morris executive, as its new president/CEO, its third top executive this year.
He replaces Tony Weiss, an 18-year veteran of the chain, who, in turn, had replaced long-time CEO Larry Mondry in May.
Weiss said in a prepared statement that he is stepping down “to focus his time and energy on his family and new professional endeavors.” Weiss will remain with CompUSA for the immediate future to help ease any transition issues.
“During his 18-year tenure, Tony has been invaluable to CompUSA,” Ross said. “The organization has benefited greatly from his leadership, expertise and vision.”
Ross, who spent 10 years with Philip Morris USA and Philip Morris International (PMI) most recently worked for PMI’s Mexican affiliate, which is jointly owned by Grupo Carso, CompUSA’s parent. He holds a law degree from Willamette University and an MBA from the University of Texas.
Weiss held various operational, merchandising and sales management roles at CompUSA over the years, including business services executive VP and general merchandising manager.
