By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 4/10/2007
New York — Tony Goncalves, who was formerly Humax USA’s sales and marketing VP, has been named DirecTV’s consumer electronics retail sales VP.
Goncalves, who will begin the new job April 16, replaces Brian Olsen, DirecTV national accounts VP, who is retiring after four-years with the company.
Goncalves will lead the national CE sales operations, reporting to David Olsen, DirecTV sales senior VP.
Bruce Baumhardt, Doug Eichler, Stephen Blackburn and Nick Clessuras – will now report to Goncalves.
In his role with Humax, Goncalves managed sales and marketing of all new U.S. consumer electronics devices including set-top boxes and integrated TVs designed to receive DirecTV programming. Humax is one of DirecTV’s set-top box manufacturers.
Previously, Goncalves worked in business development and product marketing for Samsung and Sharp Electronics.
“I have certainly appreciated being part of some of the groundbreaking initiatives we took on, which clearly have given me the foundation I need to pursue other opportunities,” Goncalves stated in an e-mail to press members Tuesday.
No one has been named yet to take over Goncalves’ role at Humax, he said.
