New D-SLR From Olympus

Featuring a 2.7-inch swivel LCD

Center Valley, Pa. — Olympus will ship a new midrangedigital SLR to dealers in January.

The 12-megapixel E-30 features a sensor vibrating dust-reduction system, CCD-shifting image stabilization, full-time autofocus live view and several new creative modes.

The camera will include new art filters to enhance captured images. Styles include pop art, soft focus, pale and light color, light tone, pin hole and grainy film. It features a 2.7-inch swivel LCD and can also merge multiple exposures (up to four) into a single image in-camera.

The E-30 offers an 11-point autofocus system with an AF live-view and phase-detection modes; a choice of nine aspect ratios, including 16:9, 6:6 and 7:6; support for wireless flashes; and an optical viewfinder with 98 percent coverage.

Complementing the digital SLR will be a new digital lens, also due in January. The Zuiko Digital 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 II features a high-speed Imager AF support for use with the E-30's high speed autofocus live-view mode.

A body-only version of the E-30 will retail for $1,299. The 14-55mm lens will retail for $599.
